Jessica Rassau [a.], Cet lab director in 2018-2019, organizer of the 3-D exhibition day with the Lighthouse of the Big Bend and Gala in Gaiole finished her MA in Museum & Cultural Heritage Studies at Florida State University in 2018. Jess has now been employed at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC, not far from her home in Greenvile, NC. She serves as Coordinator of Accessibility and Inclusion. Her specialty when the museum is open is “sensory-friendly” sessions with nature.
Jacquelyn Clements (Cet Crew 2005-2006) has recently been hired as a Program Officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities. After finishing her MA at FSU in 2007, Jacquelyn went on to work at the Getty Research Institute and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, before getting her Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University studying with Dr. Alan Shapiro. Jacquelyn is an artist and photographer and her skills were well used at Cetamura, where she made most of the pottery drawings for the year 2005.
Samuel Johnson [b.] (Cet crew 2017-2019), having finished his BA in Classical Archaeology at Florida State in 2019, entered the Master’s Program in Anthropology at the University of Connecticut, to study maritime trade in the Mediterranean with Dr. Kroum Batchvarov.
The Cetamura to Berkeley connection: Aaron Brown (Cet crew 2010-2012, 2014) is ABD at the University of California, Berkeley, writing his dissertation on ancient foodways at Pompeii, with Dr. J. Theodore Peña (who served as lab director at Cetamura in 1987-88!) Aaron completed an internship in 2018 at the Museo Nazionale di Villa Giulia in Rome, widely acknowledged as the most important museum of Etruscan art and material culture. Caroline Cheung [c.], who dug in the Etruscan sanctuary at Cetamura (Cet crew 2010-2011), finished her MA degree at FSU in 2011, then went on to UC Berkeley. After two years in Rome, including a fellowship at the American Academy, Caroline achieved the Ph.D. with a dissertation on Storage and Packaging for an Empire: Agricultural Economies in West-Central Italy, c. 200 BCE – 200 CE (2018), working with Dr. Peña. “Sweet Caroline” has been hired as Assistant Professor in Classics at Princeton University.
Lara Atkins (Cet crew 1996 and MA in Classics at Florida State 2002), serves as Director of International Programs at Union College, Schenectady, NY.
